Perstorp's benefits analysis tool for flue gas desulphurization

Find out if Perstorp’s buffering agents Elavero™ are a good fit for your coal plants limestone based flue gas desulphurization scrubber. Do the analysis simulation below to find out how your plant can benefit from using our product.

1. Scrubber

Scrubbers are a group of air pollution control systems that can be used to clean flue gases. To reduce SO₂ emissions limestone based scrubbers are often used.

Does you plant have a limestone based, wet flue gas desulphurization scrubber today?

2. Buffering

Buffering agents are weak acids that helps stabilizing the pH in systems. These can help you to improve your wet limestone scrubber efficiency.

Are you using a buffering additive to stabilize the pH in your scrubber?

3. Gypsum

Gypsum from FGD-plants can be used in dry wallboard production or mixed with concrete. Gypsum is the result of scrubbing SO₂ flue gases with a limestone based FGD technology (forced oxidation wet limestone technology).

Do you produce Gypsum?

4. Flue gas flow

This is a follow up question, please answer if possible.

Please specify your electrical power production capacity in MW connected to the scrubber.

120
840

What is your flue gas flow Nm³/h at full load?

500 000
3 600 000

This is a follow up question, please answer if possible.

Please specify your electrical power production capacity in MW connected to the scrubber.

5. SO₂

This is a follow up question, please answer if possible.

Can you specify the typical sulphur content in the coal you are using?

0.3 %
2.4 %

The SO₂ content in the flue gas is related to the content of sulfur in the coal.

Do you know the typical inlet SO₂ concentration in mg/Nm³?

800
6 000

This is a follow up question, please answer if possible.

Can you specify the typical sulphur content in the coal you are using?

0.3 %

6. Recirculation capacity

Specify the total recirculation capacity in m³/h and the number of recirculation pumps

5 000
90 000
7. Electricity cost

What is your electricity cost in euro/MWh

20

Elavero™ summary of benefit analysis

Below you find your benefits report of your desulphurisation process, please click the download button to get a pdf.

Summary of calculation

Case 1 - Operating costing savings

Savings by running the FDG plant with one recirculation pump less, keeping the SO₂ emissions level constant.

Operating costing savings
Savings in electrical power 25.2 kW
Cost savings from electrical power 500 000 euro/year

Case 2 - Removal efficiency increase

When operating the FGD with unchanged nbr of recirculation pumps, the SO₂ removal efficiency improved by adding buffering agents can instead be used to lower the SO₂ emissions. Below is an indication on the removal efficiency increase.

Removal efficiency increase
SO₂ Removal efficiency increase 32.6 %

Thank you for contacting us!

We will get back to you as soon as possible or feel free to contact us for further information.

We're glad that you are showing interest in our products

The tool calculations is based on forced oxidation with gypsum as output. You indicate that you have an inhibited system (no gypsum). Therefore you plant has higher saving potential than shown in our calculations.

We're glad that you are showing interest in our products

Unfortunately our Sodium Formate solution doesn't seem to fit in your system. Buffering agents add value to wet limestone based FGD systems by stabilizing the pH. If you would like to know more your are more than welcome to contact us.
