Location: Toledo, Ohio, USA
Main products: basic polyols, formate, formaldehyde
The Toledo site, operated by the legal company Perstorp Polyols Inc., is situated on 45 acres in Northwest Ohio. There is a Jeep manufacturing plant east of the site, former landfill south and trucking companies to the west. North of the site is another trucking company and the technical center for an automotive muffler manufacturer.
The site was established in 1976 and started with the production of polyols. A formaldehyde plant was purchased from DuPont in 1991 and a Perstorp Formox plant was built in 1996. Formaldehyde products are used captively and are available for the merchant market. Production of concrete-admixtures (SMF) and sulfonated melamine formaldehyde started in 2002.
In 2006, the Toledo site achieved certification to the RC14001 standard. The RC14001 standard combines the ISO14001 EMS standard with the Responsible Care program. Perstorp Polyols was one of the first U.S. companies to achieve this certification.
