Increasingly toys are being made from bioplastics because they are sustainable and safe. Capa™ is a safe non-toxic polymer that can be either blended in with biopolymers or used as a stand-alone biodegradable biopolymer in toy applications. Capa™ is the perfect blend for most biopolymers, such as PLA, PHA and starch based plastics, helping to improve the performance of the final application by overcoming brittleness, stiffness and moisture sensitivity, which are common biopolymer problems.
The exceptionally low melting point of 60°C makes Capa™ ideal for hand molding and prototyping. The white granules easily melt in heated water, and when they turn clear they are ready to be molded and modified. On cooling the granules turn white again leaving a tough nylon-like plastic part or object. Color can be added by using pigments that are hand blended into the melt. The prototype created can be reused to make a new prototype, or reheated for further modifications using a heat gun.

The unique properties of Capa™ makes it ideal for universal master batches in bioplastic applications. It is compatible with most biopolymers, stable in processing and its low melting point enables good dispersion into the formulation together with a high pigment loading. This makes Capa™ the perfect carrier for color reliable masterbatches.
Capa™ facilitates customized colors for a wide range of bioplastic parts in high technology industries such as automotive, and electronics, or in high volume consumer applications such as food packaging. Capa™ is biodegradable and food contact approved, which opens up enormous possibilities to reduce the environmental impact of food packaging waste. Using 100% renewable bioplastic packaging options with the compostability of Capa™ allows for a sustainable end of useful life, and a significantly lower carbon footprint.

The Capa™ properties make it ideal for hot melt adhesive applications either as 100% resin or combined with other polymers and fillers. Its low melt viscosity allows easy application and penetration into the substrate, and it shows excellent adhesion to greasy substrates, which can be easily pigmented if required. These properties, along with a good low temperature performance (Tg- 60°C), and biodegradability of the biopolymer make Capa™ a great choice for disposables, such as packaging, labels and papers. Other adhesive applications include leather, non-wovens and textiles.
