Formox one of the "Innovative Energy Use Award" finalists

The winner will be announced at the Awards Banquet at the Marriot Convention Center in New Orleans on November 13, 2012, where Formox will have representatives present.

A turbocharger is a unit where a gas turbine and a compressor is mounted on the same shaft and operating at the same speed. In this case the turbocharger is using the energy in hot gases leaving the ECS (Emission Control System) to supply fresh air with half a bar overpressure to the formaldehyde plant. Thereby is the electricity consumption reduced to approximately 2/3 compared to a plant using an electrical motor driven blower for the same purpose.

In 2011, the first plant using this concept was successfully started at Egger’s UFC plant in Radauti, Rumania. Formox AB holds the patent SE530611 for this innovation.

There are eight different award categories and in total there are 16 finalist companies - two per category. Formox are accompanied by companies such as BASF, Eastman, Dow and UOP.
