Perstorp commissions new Capa™ polycaprolactone pilot plant
Perstorp, the world’s largest producer of caprolactones, is expanding its Capa™ polycaprolactone product line with the support of a new pilot plant.
The new pilot plant, based at Perstorp’s production unit in Warrington, England, supports the continued expansion of the Capa™ polycaprolactone product line. It is intended to promote the commercialization of new Capa™ grades, including the expansion of the recently introduced co-polymer Capa™ lactide product line.
Elin Sohlberg, Site Manager at the production unit in Warrington, states:
“The pilot plant will give us the long awaited ability to better support our customers’ scale up activities”.
The pilot plant has the capacity to produce up to 800-kgs per production batch, and will bridge the availability gap between lab-scale and full-plant reactor quantities. Perstorp is endeavoring to fill the pilot reactor with specific customer-focused polymer grades. Customers with potential requirements are advised to contact their Regional Sales Manager to discuss their application.
The pilot plant is the latest in a series of investments by Perstorp to support the Capa™ product line. The monomer plant capacity at Site Warrington was doubled in mid-2011, ending a 4-year global shortage of caprolactone products. Shortly thereafter the company invested in actions to debottleneck polyols production capacity.
