Site Castellanza turns waste into useful co-product
When Perstorp’s production unit in Castellanza, Italy, started to “think outside the box”, the waste from Bis-MPA was transformed into a product of its own.
It was beginning of 2012 that the Castellanza team started to think about alternative ways to avoid the costly waste from the main product Bis-MPA.
The waste, CBX, turned out to have potential for producing methane with excellent properties. Now the site is selling all the CBX they produce, and the sales focus is on biogas plants. Luigi Mocchia, Managing Director Site Castellanza, comments:
“We are very proud of these results. From the beginning CBX was only a cost and something to destroy – and now it is a useful product in biogas production. It’s fantastic!”
