New safety barrier routine increasing clarity regarding risks

“Previously, we haven’t any clear or common guidelines on how to set up safety barriers during maintenance and repair work”, explains Johan Bergfors, Production Engineer, and one of the driving forces behind the development of the new routine. “We wanted it to be extremely easy both to set up and take down work area safety barriers. As a help we have prepared a standard equipment kit for safety barriers which we now have distributed to all concerned at the site”, Johan says while demonstrating the contents of the kit.

Increased safety, together with improved clarity and control of hazardous work zones have been catchwords in the development of the new routine.

The standard equipment kit for work area safety barriers includes:
- Adhesive labels for hazardous work zones
- Plastic signs (to stick the adhesive labels on)
- Plastic straps to attach the sign on the barrier warning tape
- Routine and One-Point-Lesson for Work Area Safety Barriers

Jonas Hagman, Plant Manager at Site Perstorp:
“An increased clarity concerning the risks we have in the plant is an important part of our safety work. The work area safety barriers point to temporary risks that we normally do not have in the plant, therefore it is of extra importance for everybody to know what the risk is and who to contact for further information”.
