Putting people first during extreme heat at Site Sayakha
At Perstorp, employee safety is always the priority. As temperatures rise across India, Site Management Team at Sayakha is taking practical steps to protect employees from heat-related illness and strengthen awareness, preparedness, and care on site.
High-temperature conditions can increase the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. To help reduce these risks, the site has adjusted daily practices and reinforced preventive measures so employees can work more safely during periods of extreme heat.
With temperatures reaching 40–43°C in several regions, the heat wave in India has had a direct impact on how we operate. The focus has been on combining awareness with practical support to protect health and wellbeing of our people.
Preventive measures include daily reminders about hydration, adjustments to work scheduling, regular breaks in shaded areas, and guidance on appropriate clothing for hot conditions. Employees are also encouraged to limit physical activity during the warmest parts of the day whenever possible.
To build awareness and readiness, Site Management Team at Sayakha has conducted a series of heat stress awareness sessions for employees in response to current environmental conditions and the increased risks associated with high temperatures. The training also covered how to respond if someone shows signs of heat stress on site, helping employees feel better prepared to act quickly and responsibly.
Mitesh Marvaniya, EHSQ manager, Site Sayakha says: “In times of extreme heat, even small acts of care can make a real difference. Looking after ourselves and checking in on one another helps ensure that everyone gets through the day safely and returns home well.”
