Data-driven project targets more sustainable manufacturing performance with “Digital Operations Hub”

To sustainably improve manufacturing performance, target direct cost reductions and empower our employees in production, Perstorp has started to transform how we are working with data across the factory floor.

Perstorp is carrying out a number of projects to accelerate Digital Transformation within the company. Perstorp has selected Cyzag Whiteboard to sustainably improve manufacturing performance, target direct cost reductions and empower our employees in the plants to enable continuous improvement (CI). As Perstorp has conducted a number of projects in the name of Digital Transformation, the Whiteboard is great example of a data-driven project that is helping Perstorp to become more efficient in the digital field.

Jens Lönquist-Roos, Director of Global Continuous Improvement comments:

“Shop floor HUB (Digital Operations Hub) is a strategic and critical key digital project for Perstorp that will enable us to stabilize and improve production, letting our control room operators take data driven decisions in the right time by having “one single source of truth” displayed to them in one place. The HUB will be a game changer for our operations globally since it will enable a fully transparent operations mechanism, where all involved stakeholders such as Maintenance, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Continuous improvement and Management will be able to follow real time daily operations.”

Via the Digital Operations HUB project, powered by Cyzag Whiteboard, Perstorp is focusing on increasing sustainability and reducing manufacturing costs, from raw materials to energy consumption. To achieve this, we are transforming how manufacturing uses information and data across and around the shop floor by better engaging the talents of the operations team to identify and track performance improvements in real time.

The initiative creates an integrated digital environment that allows users, within and outside the plant control rooms, to analyze, collaborate on and exchange information to effectively carry out day-to-day shop floor tasks. It needs highly integrated, user-friendly tools to empower shop floor users to identify and make improvements while building a collaborative environment that improves everyday manufacturing performance.

Perstorp selected UK based Cyzag following a market-wide scan for digital solutions. Together, the two companies embarked on a proof of concept project in 2022 at the Perstorp site in Sweden. After a set-up period of just three weeks, our employees in the plants were given their first Cyzag Whiteboard tools which established a single source of truth for use cases, including task management, disturbance logs and maintenance requests. This first step aligned and unified a significant portion of shop floor tasks, saving two hours per shift. The team quickly moved on to implement tools that enable real-time decision-making, and the identification and execution of CI opportunities.

“This project is a typical example of how Cyzag can implement revolutionary digital transformation from the shop floor up in process manufacturing. Together we've built a great collaborative relationship with the Perstorp team. Our shared vision for empowering the shopfloor and building sustainable manufacturing improvement has proven to be powerful and we are excited to rapidly scale up our success across Perstorp’s global footprint" comments Cyzag CEO John Papastylianou.

During 2023, Perstorp’s latest version of Cyzag Whiteboard will be rolled out across several Perstorp sites in Europe, the US and Asia. This will empower operations across all sites, while giving an enterprise-wide view to enable better reporting and benchmarking.

Jas Sinnott, VP Operational Excellence comments “We chose Cyzag’s Whiteboard because of its focus on users, which is essential for engagement and success of the initiative, the flexibility of the platform that enables us to manage the technology ourselves and build our own use cases, combined with their highly agile approach.”
