Commitment to the highest standards of ethics and integrity
Aa a subsidiary to PETRONAS Chemicals Group, Perstorp has adopted the PETRONAS Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policy, committing to the very highest standards of ethics and integrity in all aspects of how we behave and do business. The Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policy applies to all companies within Perstorp, the company’s board, Executive Leadership Team and all employees. Perstorp also expects its suppliers, distributors and other business partners, with which it has close relations, to act according to these principles.

The UN SDGs and the lubricant industry: Broadening the sustainability perspective
Sustainability within the lubricant industry has often been discussed through the lens of environmental impact. While reducing environmental harm is crucial, the industry’s contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) extends beyond just environmental considerations. The 17 SDGs and their 169 targets provide a roadmap that encompasses economic, social, and environmental aspects, all of which are critical for a sustainable future. The lubricant industry has recognized this broader framework, acknowledging key goals such as Good Health & Well-being (SDG #3) and Decent Work & Economic Growth (SDG #8). However, the recent industry-wide focus has been predominantly on environmental aspects, particularly Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) calculations. This focus is justified, as obtaining transparent and standardized data is essential for setting sustainability goals and developing effective roadmaps to achieve them.

RE-carbonizing chemicals: A key to a sustainable chemical industry
Almost all products that are crucial for our society, from medicines and clothing to appliances and mobile phones, cannot be manufactured without chemicals and carbon atoms as building blocks of the material. The problem is that basically all this carbon comes from virgin fossil sources, oil and gas, and is released into the atmosphere at the end of its life. Globally, the chemicals sector accounts for 14 percent of the industrial greenhouse gas emissions.
