Since December 1, 2010 all substances have to be registered under REACH and the products must be labeled according to the CLP (Classification Labeling and Packaging) legislation. Preparations and mixtures of feed additives, need to comply with the CLP regulation from 1 June 2015. In our Q1 newsletter of this year we have already given general information about CLP and the implications of this legislation.

The deadline of 1 June 2015 seems far away but to make the deadline on time we have decided to start implementing the CLP labeling from 1-1-2014. We will implement it per product group. We will start this implementation with our ProTain antioxidants product group first. During the year 2014 other product groups will follow (information will be shared when necessary). An individual approach will be decided to avoid problems with importation of the product for areas where the (ProTain) products are registered.

What are the implications of CLP labeling for ProTain™ products?
Approximately 70% of the ProTain products will be labeled as:

N, Dangerous for the environment. (Chemicals that may present an immediate or delayed danger to one or more components of the environment).
environment hazard

These products will become ADR transport, class 9. UN 3077 (dry products) and UN 3082 (liquid products).

Implications for the workers’ health:
The ProTain products were already labeled as Harmful (Xn), so no new health hazards will occur at the product label. The new classification is mainly with respect to the environment.

Practical information:
Our sales managers will support the implementation of CLP labeling. The updated SDS and labels will be distributed with orders in 2014. For questions or help with the implementation of CLP labeling of ProTain products your contact person is available.
