PU China a springboard for further growth

Perstorp continues to view China and Asia-Pacific as strong and developing growth markets for its polyurethane offer. This offer is spearheaded by the innovative developments in our Capa™ polycaprolactones grades. Perstorp is the world leader in caprolactones, both in terms of global capacity as well as the scientific development of this versatile and unique polyol technology.

Capa™ – fine-tuned performance
Capa™ is a very versatile specialty polyol, with a focus on demanding TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), polyurethane coatings and cast elastomer applications such as automotive seals and gaskets, synthetic leather and textile coatings, and wheels and rollers.

Capa™ benefits from excellent mechanical properties, and easy processing, such as faster cycle times in injection molding. This makes Capa™ flexible and versatile in both product applications and production. Currently Perstorp has over 80 grades of Capa™ available in the Asian market.

“This gives our customers a major advantage, as we are better able with so many grades, to individually fine-tune the performance based on their requirements”, Bob Wasson emphasizes.

New Capa developments focus on sustainability
Several new partially renewable grades of Capa™ are in the development stages. They are a response to the growing interest for a better and more sustainable carbon footprint. Currently Chinese customers are assessing the grades, and the initial reactions have been very favorable.

Growing commitment to – and investment in – the Chinese market
Perstorp is a well-established brand in the Chinese market for more than 25 years, and has been producing TMP in China since 2008. The production platform in Zibo is being expanded to include the new Neopentyl Glycol (Neo) plant, which will be operational in October 2013.
