Perstorp sponsors five students at the Berzelius Days 2020
Since 1956, the annual Berzelius Days (Berzeliusdagarna) have been taking place at Stockholm University, to inform and increase the interest among high school students to study chemistry. True to tradition, again this year Perstorp sponsored five students with a scholarship for the Berzelius Days.
During the weekend, January 31 – February 1, 350 high school students from Sweden, Norway and Finland gathered to get a better understanding of what it means to study chemistry, what chemists do after finishing their education and the important role chemists play in our society today. The two-day conference also included lectures with scientists from the university and the industry, sharing their research, personal experiences and the great value of studying science.
This year we sponsored five scholarships, two scholarships went to Klippans Gymnasium and three scholarships went to Perstorp Tekniska Gymnasium, our local high school in Perstorp. From Perstorp Tekniska Gymnasium, Clara Jellbom, Leo Långberg and Daniel Zachrisson in class PGSM23, joined the Berzelius Days. “I found it very interesting and fun to be at the Berzelius Days, which included many educational and exciting lectures. Finally, it was great to get the opportunity to visit Stockholm and to meet with other students from all over Sweden,” says Daniel, Perstorp Tekniska Gymnasium.
“For me, one of the main takeaways from the two days in Stockholm, was to understand how broad the field of chemistry actually is, and how everything can be linked back to chemistry. The lectures gave us insights from a variety of industries and different types of research, while diverse all have a strong connection to chemistry. The Berzelius Days inspired me and brought up new thoughts regarding education in the future,” says Clara, Perstorp Tekniska Gymnasium.
