Perstorp starts project to implement new ERP system

The Perstorp Board of directors recently gave the go-ahead to start the project to implement a new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system for global functions as well as the Group’s production unit in Perstorp. This major project is the first step towards a Group-wide, modern IT platform, improving both efficiency and reliability.

The project is based on the standard SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for the chemicals industry, known as Best Practice Chemicals, which is already used at the Group’s site in Warrington. The system, called Perstorp Core SAP) (PCS) uses standardized processes developed from experiences learned from the major implementations in the industry. By being as close to the standard as possible allows Perstorp to create the conditions for new functionality and effective management.

Work is now fully underway. A major procurement initiative is now complete and Acando has been chosen as the external partner of the project. Also manning of the internal project organization is on-going.

Johan Malmqvist, the Group’s CFO and EVP Finance, Legal & IT, comments on the decision:

“With the recent Board approval to implement a new ERP system, PCS, we are taking a first step towards creating a common IT platform across the company. The implementation of a modern ERP system allows us to take advantage of new capabilities, functionality, and fresh ideas. It provides us with an opportunity to re-think and re-engineer our current business processes and methodologies. This project will require a lot of hard work and dedication from everyone involved and it is a vital tool in order for Perstorp to continue to serve its customers. I strongly believe it will make our company more efficient and cost competitive in the future. I look forward to embarking on this journey.”

The objective is to be up and running with the new solution by no later than October 2014.
