Driving processing, comfort & durability in polyurethane elastomers

A complete portfolio of essential components and specialties now enables formulators of polyurethane elastomers to tailor and enhance polyurethane formulations and pre-polymers for versatile cast elastomers, reaction injection molding and thermoplastic polyurethanes.

The unique properties and virtually endless design possibilities of polyurethanes have ensured widespread use in end products such as high performance elastomers, electrical and electronic equipment, leisure and sports equipment and rollers in industrial and office equipment. Now, with a complete range of essential building blocks and specialties highlighted and explained in a new portfolio brochure, it’s easier than ever for formulators to achieve efficient processing, enhanced comfort and durability in end products.

Pertorp polyurethane foams & elastomersEssential polyurethane elastomer components
Our portfolio of essential polyurethane components includes a complete range of TDI aromatic isocyanate monomers and IPDI, HDI and Tolonate® aliphatic polyisocyanates.

Scuranate® T80 and Scuranate® T100 are essential isocyanates, producing pre-polymer for cast elastomers with more reliable end-product consistency and quality. Scuranate® T65 improves end-product properties in elastomers, most notably increased tear resistance. We are a leading global supplier of TDI and have one of the safest TDI production units in the world, our Pont-de-Claix site in France.

The stable aliphatic structure of IPDI and HDI, makes them ideal for producing durable, non-yellowing polyurethane elastomers that stand up to UV light exposure, stay durable and last longer.

A complete range of solvent-free aliphatic polyisocyanate biurets and trimers, which are suitable alternatives to polymeric MDI or monomeric TDI, helps formulators produce light-stable polyurethane casting systems.

Tailoring thermoplastic polyurethane & cast elastomers
Low-viscosity Capa® polyols ensure easy processing and high performance in thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer end products. Advantages including excellent low-temperature flex fatigue, good hydrolysis and chemical resistance, excellent oil and solvent resistance, low compression set, low odor and good paintability.

In polyurethane cast elastomers, Capa® polyols enable outstanding resilience, low hysteresis properties, very good low-temperature flex fatigue, excellent cut and tear properties, good hydrolysis resistance and high abrasion resistance.

Specialty cross-linkers and performance enhancers
TMP is a highly versatile elastomer cross-linker in some applications, where it partially replaces 1,4-butanediol to improve the hardness to compression set ratio. Our superior supply capacity makes us the leading global supplier of TMP.

A range of alkoxylated polyols with a low degree of alkoxylation, facilitate the handling of TMP and improve the hardness to flexibility ratio of elastomers. Polyol 3990, also called liquid TMP, has primary alcohol groups that need no heating, simplifying handling immensely. Polyol 3611 is a primary alcohol cross-linker facilitating good Shore A and resilience in elastomers and is ideal for producing cast elastomers for roller applications.

Oxymer® polycarbonate liquid diols are one of our most recent developments and are the premium choice for top of the line durability. They offer outstanding UV resistance in elastomers, in combination with both water repellency and acid resistance.

And BEPD, a chain-extender, helps formulators increase the transparency of cast and thermoplastic elastomer parts and achieves outstanding hydrolytic resistance.
