Coating intermediates by Perstorp
The Perstorp Group today focuses on a number of carefully defined ”niches” – fields in which we offer world-class products and technology backed by highly professional service-mindedness. With more than 50 years' experience, Perstorp is the world's leading supplier of polyols, no doubt because they are at the heart of our core business.
Basic polyols include our high-volume products Penta, TMP and Neo, which play a multitude of roles, primarily in the areas:
- paint and varnish systems
- plastic additives
- melt-glue
- lubricants
- building blocks for other chemicals
 Our micronized product range consists of basic polyols ground to a fine powder, which is used, e.g. in our Charmor range of fire retardants for improved intumescent coatings, as costabilizers for PVC to produce heavy-metal-free systems, and to increase the reactive surface area of polyols in reactions limited by solubility.
Specialty polyols demand a more innovative approach. In many cases we cooperate closely with our customers in order to create the molecules they need to enhance their own product performance. A good example of a specialty product is our range of Boltorn® dendritic polymers, which provide a large number of reactive groups. These are used, e.g. as performance additives for flexible polyurethane foam; elastomer crosslinkers; oligomer precursors for UV-curing applications; and as additives and resins for waterborne applications.
Perstorp is also the global leader in manufacturing and supplying basic and high-performance chemical products for a wide range of radiation-curing applications. In fact, most radiation-curing systems are formulated using acrylic esters derived from Perstorp polyols. The properties of individual polyols are strongly linked to the final performance of all products cured by radiation.
