Perstorp extends 2-EHA capacity in Europe and Asia

Perstorp will extend capacity for 2-EHA in Europe and in Asia by establishing production at the Group’s manufacturing unit in Singapore with production start planned for 2013.

“Increasing our capacity is in line with our strategy going forward and cements our world leading position as a supplier of 2-EHA. It also strengthens our position on the Asian market, with production of specialty products in the region”, President and CEO Martin Lundin says.

The capacity increase, planned to be up and running in 2013, will be established in Europe as well as in Asia at the Perstorp Group’s manufacturing unit in Singapore, where PIA is produced. Singapore is logistically well located and is now home to one of the top ten petrochemical hubs in the world.

“The expansion is driven by the increased demand for 2-EHA and will amount to 40,000 MT/year. Yearly average market growth for 2-EHA is high especially in Asia”, says Jerker Olsson, Vice President Oxo.

2-EHA is used in applications such as safety glass, synthetic lubricants and corrosion inhibitors in engine coolants and Perstorp is now producing 2-EHA in its production facility in Stenungsund, Sweden.
