Perstorp purchases patents for DMBA
Perstorp purchases all patents and technology for the production of DMBA. Perstorp is expected to start the marketing and sales of DMBA in January 2006.
Perstorp has reached an agreement with Nippon Kasei Chemical, Japan, to purchase all patents and technology for the production of di-methylolbutanoic acid (DMBA). Perstorp will start the marketing and sales of DMBA when the deal with Nippon Kasei Chemical is concluded, which is expected to take place January 10, 2006.
The DMBA facility is expected to be put into production beginning of 2007. Detailed engineering design is in progress.
“In order to safeguard supply of DMBA to the market Perstorp will also purchase sufficient product, produced by Nippon Kasei Chemical, needed to fulfil demand of customers between January 2006 and the start-up of our own production facility,” says Per-Erik Velin, Business Manager Perstorp Specialty Polyols.
DMBA is a product used for eco-friendly water-based paints and varnishes such as polyurethane dispersions used for floor varnish.
