Perstorp starts producing DMBA
Perstorp has decided to start producing DMBA (di-methylolbutanoic acid), a product used for eco-friendly water-based paints and varnishes, such as polyurethane dispersions used for floor varnish.
“This investment is completely in line with our strategy of supplying products for water-based systems, and DMBA will be an important and natural complement to our existing product portfolio of raw materials for polyurethane dispersions,” says Bengt Sallmén, Executive Vice President Marketing & Sales Coating Intermediates.
A DMBA facility is expected to be put into production in 2006, and the detailed engineering design will be ready by October this year.
